Adrian Armitstead

Bushfire Practitioner Assistant and Accredited Building Surveyor

Adrian has over 14 years of experience in the fields of bushfire management planning, town planning, building certification, environmental health and building surveying, and is highly competent in the preparation of Compliance Certificates relating to the design and construction requirements of AS3959 and Planning for Bushfire Protection, Bush Fire Assessment Reports, Bushfire Attack Level Certificates, and provision of carefully considered, professional bushfire advice to our clients, delivered in a timely manner. Adrian is a highly regarded member of our bushfire planning team.

Adrian has demonstrated his commitment to bushfire management planning by completing and obtaining a distinction in the ‘Building in Bushfire Prone Areas’ Unit of his Graduate Diploma of Building Surveying in 2016 and is currently midway through completion of the Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Protection in becoming appointed as a BPAD-Level 2 Certified Practitioner.

He and Catherine Gorrie have also hosted a stand at the 2021 and 2022 Association of Australian Certifiers annual conferences of several hundred attendees.

Adrian’s expertise includes:

  • Compliance for the design and construction of buildings in bushfire prone areas for all versions of AS3959 and the associated sections of Planning for Bushfire Protection

Adrian’s key project experience includes:

  • Wentworth and Buronga Accommodation Camps

> Provide compliance of design and construction advice for over 200 temporary relocatable homes and associated amenities as part of the Energy Connects infrastructure upgrades to BAL 12.5

  • Aspect Schools, Western Sydney & Northern Beaches

> Provide preliminary advice, a Bushfire Assessment Report, and design and construction advice for alterations and additions to two schools in BAL FZ

  • FDC Building, Astoria Street Marsden Park


> Review design and construction of four lot subdivision, bulk earthworks and tree clearing, construction of a private access road from Astoria Street to the site, construction and operation of an industrial facility including a warehouse, ancillary office and truck drivers sleeping facilities; ancillary development including truck parking, car parking, landscaping, noise abatement wall and associated infrastructure
